Cap and gown pictures on campus
Here's how a cap and gown session on campus works, from picking the spots to picking the session. For senior pictures around Oxford and Lafayette County, see my senior photographer in Oxford, MS page. For more spots around town, from the Square to the grounds of Rowan Oak, see my guide to places to take pictures in Oxford, MS.
Where on the Ole Miss campus do you take graduation pictures?
I take Ole Miss graduation pictures at spots like the Grove, the Walk of Champions and the university seal. The Grove is also where graduates in academic regalia sit for Convocation, according to the Ole Miss graduates guide. If another corner of campus meant something to you, add it to the list and we'll plan the stops together.
Which session should I book for graduation pictures?
For graduation pictures, it comes down to how many stops you want. Essential is thirty minutes at one location, with at least 15 edited, high resolution photos in a private online gallery. Signature is a full hour at up to two locations with one outfit change and at least 30 edited photos, sized for printing and posting, so you could wear your cap and gown at one stop and change for the next. Premium is two hours across several locations with two outfit changes and 40 or more edited photos.
Do I need to know how to pose for graduation pictures?
No. I'll tell you where to stand, so you don't need to know how to pose. Just bring your cap and gown and any cords or stoles you'll wear at graduation.
Can family and friends be in my graduation pictures?
Yes. Premium is the one to book if friends or family are joining, since it runs two hours across several locations. That leaves time for pictures on your own and pictures with the people you bring.
How much do Ole Miss graduation pictures cost?
Ole Miss seniors book the same Essential, Signature and Premium sessions on campus. Current prices are on my senior session pricing page, or send me your date for a quote.
Ceremony photos or a portrait session?
For commencement photos, the Ole Miss graduates guide points graduates to gradimages.com. GradImages photographs the ceremony. A portrait session is the other half: the campus pictures you plan yourself.
Do I still need a session if GradImages photographs the ceremony?
GradImages ceremony photos and a portrait session are different pictures. GradImages covers the ceremony, and that's where you'll find your commencement photos. A portrait session is planned pictures around campus at the spots you choose, with time at each stop, outfit changes on Signature and Premium, and room for friends and family on Premium. If you want pictures at the Grove or the seal, that's what a session is for.
When to take Ole Miss graduation pictures
When should I take my graduation pictures?
Before commencement or after it. Pick what suits you and send me the date. The Class of 2027 is made up of graduates whose degrees are conferred in December 2026, May 2027 and August 2027, and the Ole Miss graduates guide says 2027 graduates keep their caps and gowns instead of returning them. So once you have your cap and gown from Grad Supply, you can pick the day.
Can we take pictures back home instead of in Oxford?
Yes, if home is around the Jackson, MS metro. Besides Oxford, the Ole Miss campus and Lafayette County, I take senior pictures in Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood and Brandon. If you're somewhere else in Mississippi, send me the details.
Graduation weekend
Graduation weekend parties and events can be photographed by SLP Media, my event photography team, so the celebration gets covered too. See event photography for how that works.
I've been making photos and films since 2019, and I shoot both, so senior pictures and a senior hype film can be one booking. You can watch my hype films on the senior page.
