Before you book
How many photographers does my event need?
It goes by guest count. One photographer covers a party of up to 100 guests. Past 100, start with two photographers, who cover up to 500 guests at one venue. Bigger than that, the full team brings four photographers and a lighting package. A second room can add one more photographer to any package.
How much does an event photographer cost?
SLP Media packages are priced by those three sizes, and each one includes the SelfSearch AI gallery and a custom branded photo template. The prices, extra hours and extra photographers are on the SLP Media packages page, and chapter events are on my Greek life photo pricing.
What holds our date?
A 50% deposit holds your date, and the balance is due 7 days before the event. You get an invoice for the deposit when you book.
What do you need from us before the event?
A planning call covers it: the rooms, the schedule, the guest count, the people who have to be in the photos and any group shots you want. If there are speeches, an award or a surprise, tell me when, so we're in position.
Do you travel?
We work in Oxford, on the Ole Miss campus and across Lafayette County, and in Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood and Brandon. Travel beyond about 30 miles of Oxford or Jackson is quoted.
At the event
SLP Media's photographers are high energy: we hype up groups, pull people into shots and keep the room going. We plan the coverage with you before the event, so no part of the night is left out, and with the lighting package we also set up a posed photo station.
Will we get posed photos or candids?
Both. SLP Media does roaming event photography, so we move through the whole event instead of standing at one backdrop. We cover the arrivals, the room, the details you planned, the speeches and the dance floor, and we stop for the group shots on your list. For posed photos of families, couples and friend groups, the lighting package sets up a lit station, like the one at Kappa Kappa Gamma's parents weekend in October 2026.
What is the lighting package?
Professional lights for posed photos, set up at your backdrop or a spot we pick together. It comes with the full team package and can be added to the two smaller ones.
What if the event runs long?
We can stay. Extra time is billed by the hour for each photographer, and if you know it'll run long, put it in the quote up front.
Can you film the event too?
Yes. I film recap videos myself, as Samuel Long Productions, and you can book one with the photos. A chapter house event reel runs 20 to 30 seconds and comes back within a week; date party and formal films run longer and include the drone. Other events are quoted on their own.
Can you fly a drone at our event?
Where the airspace and the venue allow it, and never over the crowd. I'm an FAA Part 107 pilot. On Ole Miss property every flight goes through UPD for approval first; I'm authorized to fly on campus and file the request myself, so ask at least a week ahead. My Ole Miss drone guide has the details.
After the event
Every SLP Media package comes with two things for after the event: a custom branded photo template on the photos guests save, and SelfSearch AI, the facial recognition gallery Samuel Long Productions built in house. The answers below cover how each one works and how guest privacy is handled.
How fast do we get the photos?
We plan delivery of the edited gallery within 2 days of the event, or 3 days for Monday to Thursday events. Your quote gives the date.
How do guests get their photos?
Guests get their photos on their phones through SelfSearch AI, SLP Media's facial recognition gallery. Everything goes on one private link. Guests open it in their phone's browser, take one selfie and see the photos they're in, with no app and no account. The gallery may ask for an email before the first download, and a QR sign-up at the door sends each person who signs up one email with the link.
Do you keep the selfies?
No. Guests agree before the camera opens, each selfie is matched once, only against your event's gallery, and SLP Media never saves it. SelfSearch AI is built in house by Samuel Long Productions, not a third-party photo app, with privacy designed in. Anyone can ask to be left out of matching or for a photo to come down.
How long does the gallery stay up?
A year, with free downloads for anyone who has the link and an optional PIN. Photos and face data are deleted 30 days after the gallery closes, once any print orders are filled.
Can you put our logo or Greek letters on the photos?
Yes. Every SLP Media package includes a custom branded photo template, a border or overlay that puts your logo on the photos guests save, plus up to three lines of text like the event name, the date or your theme, next to the SLP Media mark. A chapter can use its sorority or fraternity letters or crest when the chapter or its national office permits the artwork, and a gala can use its event name.
Do we hear how the gallery did?
Yes. You get a summary afterward with the numbers from your gallery.
