Ceremony-only wedding films

My Ceremony package films just your ceremony in Oxford, the Jackson metro or North Mississippi: two hours of coverage filmed from two camera angles, with mics on the groom and the officiant and a backup recording on camera. You get the full ceremony as a digital file and a cut-down version in a custom video book, usually within two weeks.

Turn your sound on for the vows: the groom and then the bride repeat them after the officiant, recorded on lavalier mics. The first kiss runs from the pronouncement to the applause, filmed from the back of the aisle.

How I film a ceremony

You can see both camera angles in Clayton & Isabelle's vows: a tighter one up front, off to the side, and a wide one from the back of the center aisle. Some churches only allow video from the back of the church. The published rules I've checked are further down this page.

For audio, mics go on the groom and the officiant, and I also record a backup on camera, so the sound is collected two ways. When a church doesn't allow mics on the wedding party, I rely on the on-camera recording.

Your ceremony film comes two ways: the full ceremony as a 4K download from a private gallery link, and a cut-down version loaded into a custom video book. Both are edited from the two camera angles and the audio I record. I do all the editing in-house, and it's usually ready within two weeks.

Essentials, Story and Legacy cover six, eight and ten hours. Essentials and Story put your ceremony inside a highlight film: 3 to 5 minutes in Essentials, 4 to 6 in Story. Legacy gives you both: a 4 to 6 minute highlight and the full ceremony film.

Church and chapel rules that decide where the cameras go

Here's what a few Oxford and Jackson metro churches and chapels publish about cameras and mics. It's not a list of places I've filmed, and policies change, so check your church's current rules too. Rules checked September 2026.

Oxford

Paris-Yates Chapel, Ole Miss

Cameras: "Balcony access is not permitted, even to photographers during the ceremony." The podiums and all other furniture are permanent and cannot be moved. Only the altar table and the large chairs on the stage can be moved. No tape of any kind may be used on the floors, including to mark positions.

Mics and sound: Two built-in microphones sit at the permanent podiums and are turned on by University staff for the rehearsal and the wedding. Music plays through the chapel's Bluetooth-compatible system from a cellphone, and the wedding party runs it.

Bells: They chime automatically on the hour and half-hour unless silenced by request, so ask for that if they would land during your vows.

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church

Cameras: The parish wedding guidelines (updated December 4, 2025) say photographers must consult the parish wedding coordinator in advance and may not enter the sanctuary near the altar.

Diocese policy: St. John's is in the Catholic Diocese of Jackson, whose policy (updated 2014) says photographers should never be in the sanctuary or near the altar before, during and after the ceremony.

First Presbyterian Church of Oxford

Cameras: The church's wedding policy (revised August 26, 2021) allows photography and videography only from the rear of the church during the service. So both of my camera angles would be at the rear.

Jackson metro

St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral

Cameras and mics: Video may be recorded only from the back of the center aisle. TV monitors, lights and cabling of any kind are not allowed, and neither are microphones on the wedding party. Guests may not take photos or video from the pews.

Audio: With no mics allowed on the wedding party, your vows would come from my on-camera recording at the back of the center aisle.

First Baptist Jackson

Vendor guidelines: All wedding vendors must review and accept the church's vendor guidelines. Videographers have their own set, separate from the photographers', and I'd accept them before your wedding.

Ceremony film questions

How long is the ceremony film?

The full ceremony film runs as long as your ceremony, usually 20 to 40 minutes, and the cut-down version goes in your video book.

Is the full ceremony just raw footage?

No, it's an edit, not a raw file. If you're asking because you want the raw footage, my raw footage policy is on my questions page.

Is the ceremony film in Legacy the same film?

Yes. It's the same ceremony film as the Ceremony package, bundled into Legacy's ten hours, so there's no need to book both.
